Bon Appétit's Feast Portland
Last weekend was quite the Feast in Portland! I was brought on to do some photography for Bon Appétit’s fantastic food frenzy, and got to mingle with some of the country’s finest chefs and consume so much amazing food I was almost comatose for days after. I shot about 5-6 events within just a few days, and thought I’d post some of my favorites up here. Enjoy!
Feast Dinner Series: St. Jack
Very similar to the Portland Food Adventures I often shoot for, with a fixed menu of seven courses and wine pairings.
Feast Welcome Party
An exclusive invite-only event held at the Jupiter Hotel. Definitely a great time! I was shooting particularly for Imbibe, a magazine surrounding all things beverages, so lots of alcohol promos and shots of the endlessly entertaining bartenders. Those in the foodie scene might see quite a few familiar faces in here!
Tasting Panels: Cocoa Comfort, Beer Breakdown, and White Wine and the Shore Line.
Feast offers some really interesting speaker panels, where experts come in to talk about some beloved topics and the guests are given small tastings to go with the lecture. Not a bad way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon! I particularly enjoyed the beer tasting of course.
High Comfort at the Nines
I wasn't actually scheduled to shoot this, I mostly just wanted to attend and was allowed with my fancy Media pass. High Comfort was some of the craziest food I’ve had in a while; Elk tongue, foie gras dumplings, baked ham ice cream… wow! Taking comfort food to a whole new level. I also attended one day of the Oregon Grand Bounty but I was too distracted by having a ton of delicious local food/drink tastings and didn’t take many pics, but it was quite the grand time.
And that’s all for now! I feel really honored to have worked for Feast, especially around the caliber of other photographers shooting with me. It was a truly special experience; I hope to go back next year!
Cheers!
